Dear Roy, Nicole and Alex.
I just heard of Yvonne’s passing and want to extend my deep condolences for your loss.
I met Yvonne when Nicole and my daughter Megan were in the Brookbanks Library story time together. Alex was sleeping in the baby seat and we were chatting. The girls became friends and were in school together. We often shared tea and cookies or a glass of wine when we were dropping off or picking up for playdates. We had great conversations and lots of laughs over the years.
I started working at the school board as a second career and when Yvonne told me she was interested, I invited her to visit me at work to see the work setting and meet my co workers.
Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years but I have very fond memories of Yvonne. She was always fun loving, enthusiastic and friendly.
So sorry for your loss Roy, Nicole and Alex.

I met Yvonne when our sons attended the same elementary school. We were school yard Moms and participated in bbqs, spring fairs and other fund raising activities. Rhys and Alex W. played softball, attended kayak camp and shared classes during middle and high school too. One day Rhys complained to me about Mrs. Westlake serving ‘bird seed bread’ sandwiches for lunch. Yvonne found that observation hilarious. Our boys graduated and I moved away. I was sad to hear of Yvonne’s passing. I have nice memories of a petit woman with a vibrant personality and warm smile. My condolences to Roy, Nicole and Alex W. Sincerely, Melinda (Mel) Goldman

Yvonne first came into our lives or rather John’s life in 1969 at Heathrow as part of the Lufthansa family. I came to the party a couple of years later. Talking of parties we had a few! She, Roy and down the line Nicole and Alex became firm friends. I remember the first time we visited them in Toronto having not seen them in person for many years how we just picked up where we left off as though we had seen them just the day before. We will always remember Yvonne’s chatty nature and her lovely laugh. Oh how we are going to miss her. We were so blessed to see her for a couple of days in April when she, Roy and Nicole were in the UK. She will be remembered with much love by us.

Yvonne and I met on our first day at Ashford Grammar School when we were eleven years old and immediately became friends. She was always a kind, supportive friend with a great sense of humour. We were very conscientious students and worked hard but also had a lot of fun together and I remember on one occasion slipping out of school during a games lesson and going to a local cafe. This was totally out of character and we felt very daring. It was a strict school and of course we were seen and severely punished for such irresponsible conduct!
Yvonne loved travel and we enjoyed many holidays together.
She had boundless energy and enthusiasm and, of course, an eye for a bargain!
She could always be relied on to get a good deal wherever we went and I was happy to leave the bargaining to her!
Pete and I have visited Roy and Yvonne many times in Canada, firstly as a couple and then with our children and we have always been given a great welcome, enjoying her excellent cooking skills and their kind hospitality in Toronto and at the cottage which she loved so much. When Chris and Kristel moved to Canada they welcomed them and treated them as family, for which we are really grateful.
We will miss her tremendously.

Remembering Yvonne makes me smile because that was what she did best - make us smile and laugh, and yes we still managed to do some work!
My thoughts are with Roy, family and friends at this time.

She had an infectious personality. If you knew Yvonne, you would know what I mean!

We send our love and condolences to Roy, Nicole and Alex on the loss of lovely Yvonne.
I met Yvonne at Lufthansa Heathrow in 1974 and was immediately impressed by her friendliness, big smile, kindness and, of course, wicked sense of humour.
Yvonne has fought such a courageous battle but somehow managed, to us at least, to remain positive, bright, cheerful and optimistic.
We are so very sad that she lost her battle and will miss her greatly but her memory will stay in our hearts always. RIP
Love Jo and Jim Maydom

We first met at a job interview at Lufthansa Heathrow. I was 19 years old. Yvonne was kind and made the interview so pleasant for me. I came out of there thinking what a nice lady. We met again at Lufthansa in Toronto where we became friends until the present. When we went out for dinner, we were always the last ones to leave the restaurant and the waiters could not wait for us to stop laughing so they could finally close the doors for the night. Your British humour was always strong and ready to kick in.
I remember when you had to deal with a very irate passenger over the phone who would not listen to any explanation that you were trying to give. When he rudely hung up on you, you looked at me and exclaimed very angrily: "Oh, the little toad!!"
So, with a smile I said "Wow Yvonne, is that the best you can come up with? Your frustration vocabulary needs some expansion. I can give you a reference for a free tutorial!" We both laughed and the irate passenger was soon forgotten.
You fought your battles like a true warrior, with strength, courage and perseverance. Now you can rest. I will miss you so much but the warmth of your friendship and our memories together will remain in my heart forever. Thank you for your wonderful gift of friendship.

On many canoe trips and at countless celebrations, dinner parties, get togethers and boat cruises with the Shadow Lake glamping gang, Yvonne has been our fun-loving, welcoming, chatty companion. Quick to help anyone, always empathetic, and ready with a good story or observation, she charmed us with her warmth. How did such a little woman leave such a huge absence? We are so grateful to have known Yvonne.
