My angelic cousin, Laverne, for my mother, Laverne, auntie Eva special angel, was the greatest gift in this life for her. I learned how to love unconditionally by observing my mother's love for her grandniece Laverne Charlton. It was and still is pure joy.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Laverne. She was a wonderful, wonderful friend who brought so much joy and kindness into our lives during our high school years. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the heart of all who knew her.

When a person come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime it is to bring you joy and happiness so, when LaVerne came into my life, she brought both, and a lot more: memories of her trips to England to visit me and other members of the family.
The places, museums, theatres, restaurants, meeting new people, forming relationships and enjoying
life are some of the things LaVerne will be indelible. Laverne never travel to England alone and whenever she visits I know I’ll be enjoying Bahamian Home cooking.
Laverne was a very social person, made friends easily with lasting friendships.
I am so proud to have had her in my life .
She will be Dearly Missed!

When I had the privilege to meet Laverne a few years ago it was in the form of a double date. The first opportunity she had alone with me she ask what was my intentions, and admonished me in her still soft voice to, “do not hurt my sister.” I will always remember that moment where she gained my respect for the love she had for her sister who is now my wife of 26 years. I will miss my sister-in-law for her kind words of wisdom and her crab salad which was second to none. Take your eternal rest my sis, God Loves you and He Knows What’s Best.

I worked with Laverne at the retirement home and I have nothing but lovely memories of her. She spoke often of her family and her home in the Caribbean. My condolences to the family and may she rest in peace.
Sincerely, Claudia Alvarado.
