Obituary of Mr. Carmine Nino Salines

May 11, 1939 – July 19, 2024

Carmine Nino Salines, age 85, passed away at Scarborough General Hospital.  Nino was born in Bovino, Foggia, Italy to Giovanni and Mariannina Salines.  His family eventually settled in Toronto, Ontario, which became Nino’s new home.  He was a devoted Husband to the love of his life, Maria Grazia. He was an amazing and doting Father to Marianne (Marco) and John Luca.  Nino was the loving Brother of Ciro (the late Teresa), Savina (John) and Claudio (Enza).  He was a dear Zio to Bianca, Pina (Andy), Ciro (Shauna), Joanne (Sebastian), Bruno (Julie), Steven and John Franco.  

Nino held various vocational positions throughout his lifetime, including insurance, the Brazilian Consulate, and finally, as a Data Supervisor.  When he was not working, Nino enjoyed listening to Italian and Spanish music, gardening, watching wrestling and classic movies. He had an enthusiasm for film and photography; he constantly had a camera ready in hand to capture life’s moments. He had a passion for community and was deeply religious. He served as Secretary for numerous years on the Comitato Pro-Maria S.S. di Valleverde (Bovino).  Nino had a knack for writing and looked forward to writing letters and correspondence. Above all, Nino treasured his family and spent time with them as much as possible. Nino was a valued friend to many and could always be counted on for help or for a good laugh.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Salines Family at Ogden Funeral Home on Thursday July 25, 2024 at 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  A mass will be celebrated at Precious Blood Parish on Friday July 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.  The Family would like to thank everyone for their tremendous love and support during this difficult time.
