We worked together for several years at the NCB Bank Trinidad. A very competent professional in his chosen field. Approached all work challenges in his calm easy going manner and got the problem resolved. Also quite good at liming. Rest well my brother until we meet again. Condolences to his family.

Martin Garcia was a very close and dear friend to my husband Ali and I for over 25 years. He was also well known to our family and friends and we all loved and respected him.He was always present at most of our family functions and casual get together. He attended weddings, birthdays, family picnics, Christmas and any Trini lime. It was a pleasure to have him there with us and we created everlasting memories. He always had that special smile for everyone and was a very good listener who always made you feel good about yourself. He will be missed and a great loss to us all...May God keep him safe and take him through heaven gates to rest peacefully.Amen

My condolences to my loving sister Elaine and my nephew Paul Garcia. I fell your lost personally! Martin had always been one of my favorite brother in law even though we only spent a short time together when I visited Canada with my mother and my younger sister Sharon. I was in my early teens, but I do remember him very smart and quick with a good joke! I love him, and he will forever be in my heart. Sis I send a lot of kisses and my forever love to you and Paul. God will keen on blessing you guys.

Q: What will you miss most about Courtney?
A: I have many fond memories of Uncle Courtney. Most of these involve his tendency to smile or find mirth in almost anything. What an extraordinary quality! There would be many times, we would be in deep, serious discussion and all of a sudden he'd break the mood with a light-hearted, witty joke or perceived double entendre. As if the situation called for a break. Sometimes he would "invent" a joke, and then proceed to laugh at his newly created joke. Usually by himself :) The man was never short of humor. He was always quick with a response or quip and never bereft of something to say. Especially when greeting someone. One of his trademark, running gags was to respond to a greeting with "I'm doing gooder!" Initially, this confounded me; not just because of the poor grammar, but because of his ability to keep a straight face throughout and his resolve in keeping this as an ongoing (read: forever) response. I resolved one day to get the better of him and to respond in a way he wouldn't expect. So the next time we met, and after the standard "gooder" proclamation was delivered, I exclaimed loudly, "Well Uncle Courtney, I'm doing goodest because I'm the bestest at being gooder." As these words sank in, the perplexed look on his face was priceless. And after a long pause, he put his arm on my shoulder and said "You got me there. I have no words." And then we both burst out laughing.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to Elaine, Paul and the entire Garcia family. Uncle Courtney was very special to me and reinvigorated me during a very difficult time in my life. His indomitable will, cheerfulness and benevolence were all supplanted by his intense faith and devotion to God and the concept of universal love. Uncle Courtney may have left us far too soon, but I believe God calls upon his most beloved of children to join him in paradise that is the kingdom of heaven. He will be forever missed and I have the rest of my life to draw upon from his teachings and memories. Go well, Uncle Courtney.
Love,
Nayan

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of my dearly departed friend. Courtney and I were great friends but went separate ways, to the US and Canada, never to meet again. Despite many attempts to locate him, all were unsuccessful. I was amazed to get a text from a fellow childhood friend that Courtney had passed away. I’ve been searching for his obituary and I’m glad I will be able to see his Homegoing services. May Courtney rest in peace. Amen.

It was such a shock to hear of you passing. I met Martin many years ago at CIBC. I had lunch with a very diverse group of West Indians of which he was a treasured member. I got to know him a little better when we all retired and met for dinner quarterly. It was always fun and funny. Martin had a sense of humour like no other. Deepest condolences to your entire family. May your wonderful memories sustain you at this difficult time. Sleep in Eternal Peace. We will leave a place for you at our dinners always.
You will be so missed.

My name is Pastor Solange Silva.
My deepest condolences to Courtney and the Garcia Family. I have known Uncle Courtney for 25 years, so I feel like part of the family. Every time I went to Jessica’s home or attended family events, he was there. He was always very happy, and always loving to the people around him. I have beautiful memories about my brother in Christ, Uncle Courtney. I will never forget how respectful and adorable he was. I still remember when Jessica and I visited him at his home and blessed him. On another visit, I prayed for him and his family before he left for his recent trip to Trinidad.
We will miss him very much, and we will always love him.

Martin was my very good friend from when I first met him through Elaine a long time ago. I remember our days of playing squash 3 to 4 times per week, and our discussions as we grew our careers in technology. In the past 10+ years, we met frequently near his office in Mississauga and went for supper at one of his favorites, Chipotle, where he always joked with the servers, and we talked about family, work, wellness, fitness, aging, religion. It was always fun. I appreciated the time I spent with my friend Martin and will always remember him.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Like most of the other condolence notes start I was also totally shocked to hear the news of Martin’s passing.
We worked together for many many years at CIBC, some of the large IT projects were stressful and technology implementations (mainly weekends) brought their own problems but Martin and I
would joke our way through the tough moments and work it out. He had a keen sense of humour and was people oriented.
Martin spoke (unless excited) slowly and loudly which he put down to his “Masters Of Ceremony” training and when he spoke we all listened. (Photo Taken 1999)
In the past few years I had not seen much of him but whenever we did get together the connection was instantaneous and fulfilling.
I will miss him!
My condolences to all of his family and friends.

This came as a tremendous shock, given that I had only spoken to him a few days before. The day that I called and was told that he passed the night before I thought the person on the other end of the line was making a joke, and I was not very appreciative of the comment of him passing. The comment became real when the person identified herself as Elaine Garcia, then suddenly reality set in and I could not control my emotions. Martin and I worked together for several years, but we had a bond as we shared the same birthdate and each year thereafter we made an effort to wish each other happy birthday. Martin had an unusual sense of humor and he always reminded me that Jamaica was his adopted country of birth. It was always humorous to hear him try and speak the Jamaican dialect. Martin had very strong religious commitments and was not shy of sharing them. Martin my friend you will be missed, your friendship will never be forgotten. Sleep well my friend until we meet again... You were Blessed.
