Obituary of Ms. Robertha Walker

Please share a memory of Ms. Robertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robertha Walker, affectionately known as “Ruby” to her family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the age of 94. In her final weeks and days, she was surrounded and supported by loving family and friends, reflecting a life well lived. Born on November 26, 1929, in St. Mary Parish, Jamaica, Robertha was the third oldest of 11 siblings. She was a hard worker, a prayer warrior, a compassionate caregiver, and a resilient woman. After 20 years of dedicated service, she retired from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

A devoted Christian, Sister Walker endeavoured to live a life pleasing to God, and shone the light of Christ each day.  Her faith was evident in her actions and the love she shared with those around her. She is predeceased by her parents, four brothers, one sister, her husband and her daughter. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Roberta will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her son Lauriston Pitters (Evra) and grandchildren Tony Ambersley (Monique), Danita Thompson (Chris), Denmore Bowlyn, and Lemuel Pitters (Debbie-Ann).  She is also survived by five siblings, Daniel, Iris, Nathan, George and Muriel, nine great-grandchildren, and was an aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for all the love, care, laughter, prayers and wisdom she gave over the years. We take comfort in knowing she was ready to rest in her Lord and Saviour, awaiting the soon coming resurrection morning, where she will see her returning King face to face.

Visitation will occur at the Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1S 1T3) on Tuesday July 2, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A second visitation will occur the next day Wednesday July 3, 2024 at Apple Creek Seventh-day Adventist church (700 Apple Creek Blvd, Markham, ON L3R 7X9) an hour before the celebration of life service that will commence at 11:00am.
