Obituary of Ms. Joan Berman

Joan Berman passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024 surrounded by family in her home in North York. She was born on March 18, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and immigrated to Toronto in 1978. She is survived by her husband of 36 years (Art), her sons Adam and David (Willa) and her daughter Melissa (Remi). She will be missed by her grandchildren Axel, Silvie and Vita, her twin brother Jerry (Debbie) and her sister Francine. 

Joan was a committed lifelong volunteer and gave tireless service to various volunteer organizations in the city of Toronto, including Alliance Hospice, for which she was awarded the June Callwood Award, and the American Women’s Club of Toronto, which she served as President. She was very skilled at many things that brought her and those around her joy: painting, gardening, ceramics, cooking, various needlecrafts and making people laugh. She also took great pleasure in and took excellent care of the family's beloved dog, Rosie. Joan was deeply devoted to caring for her family and for the world.
