Obituary of Mrs. Sonja Rennick
Sonja Wilhelmina Rennick, 92 of Newmarket, ON, passed away on June 3rd, 2024.
Sonja was born on November 15th, 1931 to Carl and Mabel Larson in Magog, Quebec. She grew up the only girl in a large family where she learned to cook delicious dishes, thoughtfully care for others and excel in enhancing her natural beauty. Through her youth she modeled and worked at the beauty counter at the local drug store along with other jobs
After marrying Ken Rennick in September of 1970 and giving birth to her first child, Jacqueline, in May of 1971 she decided to change careers and went back to school in New York to become an electrologist, eventually starting her own business which she continued well into her 80s. Her clients trusted her steady hand and sound advise and never knew her actual age due to her doll like complexion and skin that remained her entire life.
In her later years Sonja continued to enjoy taking care of herself, baking treats regularly for the grandchildren she adored and doted on and shopping for the best deals.
Sonja was predeceased by her loving husband Ken and her bothers Carl, William, Algot, Howard and Lis. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline and Renee, her son-in-laws David and Bill, her grandchildren Turner, Emily, Rachel and Charlotte and her brother Norm, Brother in law Don and sisters in law Diane and Sue along with a host of well loved extended family.
Services will be held at Ogden Funeral home in Scarborough on Monday June 10th – visitation from 12pm – 1pm, service at 1pm, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket where she was very well cared for during her final days.
