Obituary of Mrs. Ionis Yorke

Ionis Lyris Yorke, Beloved Sister, Teacher & Friend.

Ionis Lyris Yorke, aged 74, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at Centenary
hospital, in Toronto.
Born on May 7, 1950, in Trinidad and Tobago, Ionis dedicated her life to education and the
betterment of those around her. She graduated from Trinidad and Tobago teachers college with
a degree in education.
For over 40 years, Ionis transformed the lives of countless students as a dedicated teacher at
Scarborough Secondary School. She was known for her innovative teaching methods, passion
for mathematics, and unwavering commitment to her students’ success. Her classroom was a
place where every student felt valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Ionis is survived by her siblings; Bernice Yorke, Horis Yorke, Lewis Yorke, Eunice McSween,
Dennis Yorke, Maudris Yorke, Loris Yorke and Emerson Yorke. Ionis was preceded in death by
her parents, Egent and Thelma Yorke, as well as her siblings Gonzales Yorke, Purvis Yorke,
Noris Yorke.
Ionis' legacy of kindness, dedication to family, and passion for education will live on in the hearts
and minds of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
