Obituary of Mr. Bernardo Joson
Bernardo ‘Bernie’ Joson passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024 at Scarborough General Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on February 28, 1949 in Manila, Philippines. A devoted husband of 49 years to Lilia, and loving father to son Keith and his wife Aileen, and daughter Yvette. He is also survived by sisters Julita and Virgina.
In 1975, Bernie came to Canada looking for a better life and better opportunities. It was in Toronto he met his beautiful wife Lilia and started a family, who he dedicated all his strength and love to. He supported them as a mechanical engineer, combining his love for cars with a successful career, but always ensured that family time was the highest priority. During this time, he was an avid photographer, wanting to capture every moment. He would snap photos of foods he enjoyed, happy events, nature, animals, anything you could think of.
After retiring, he was able to spend more time with other hobbies, including gardening. Anyone that knew Bernie, knew of his passion for all types of plants and what was his pride and joy was – his golf green grass. He even enjoyed gardening so much that he would constantly give plants away to family, friends, and neighbours.
Bernie had such a big heart and a larger than life personality. He touched so many lives and will continue to be loved forever.
Family and friends are welcome at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East on Thursday, May 9 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for visitation and on Friday, May 10 at 1:00pm for funeral mass.
In Bernardo’s memory, flowers are appreciated as he loved nature and his garden so much.
