Jean Ross Surphlis

 (nee Palmer)

February 25, 1922 - May 3, 2024

Our dear mother decided 102 years was long enough on this earth and left us peacefully on May 3rd to reunite with her beloved husband Charles “Chuck” Surphlis.

Born in Toronto to Isabella and Henry Palmer, favourite sister of Bill and John (both deceased).  Survived by sister-in-law, Ruby Palmer.   Amazing mom to daughter Patricia, son Douglas (Jennifer) and loving nanny to Jeffrey (Alexandra), Scott (Taylor), Ryan, Gregor and a soon-to-arrive great-grandbaby girl.

In the 1940s mom partnered with her brother John as a roller-skating dance team travelling across Canada to perform in revues.  The stories live on to this day.   She was also a life-long fan of the Maple Leafs and Argos, second only to any sport participated in by her grandsons.  She enjoyed car trips, her garden and watching figure-skating and golf on TV.

Mom was devoted to her family.  Her unwavering love and support have been our guiding light.  Her presence is deeply missed but her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts by all who knew and loved her.  Rest in peace mom.

Special thanks to Dr. Larry Bacher for decades of care and more recently to the staff at Thompson House LTC for making her final year more comfortable. Angels all.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Agincourt Ont. M1S 1T3.  Funeral service in the chapel on Saturday, May 18 at 11:00am followed by interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
