Obituary of Mr. Chris John Outos
Chris John Outos of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away on April 13, 2024 at the age of 71 after a brief battle with cancer.
Chris was born on July 2, 1952 to John and Frances Outos in Toronto. Chris attended York University and went on to work at Bell Canada for 38 years where he was very well liked and respected.
Chris was well known for his great sense of humor, animated story telling, generosity, and kind hearted & loving nature. He was known for giving the most thoughtful of gifts, and spoiling his grandchildren. Chris was also the type of person who would offer a helping hand to anyone in need without ever having to be asked.
Chris took great pride in his house and home, including a well curated backyard which included his crystal clear pool, many mementos/souvenirs from meaningful vacations spots, and of course his epic vegetable garden; he grew the best tomatoes in town! Chris loved to travel to the East Coast, and most recently went on his dream trip to the Canadian Rockies. He loved hosting friends and family and ensuring that they never went home hungry; even Epicurus would be jealous of his masterful feasts!
Chris was a die hard Toronto Argos fan, and was one of the few who actually remembers seeing the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup with his favourite player Frank Mahovlich. Chris spoke fondly of his hockey stick signed by almost the entire Toronto Maple Leaf Team! He loved to tell stories of playing pick-up football with John Candy who was one of his childhood heroes, and for good reason.
Chris is survived by his wife Mary and three children, Lisa, James & Kelly, and 7 grandchildren: Theodore, Eva, Fox, Kennedy, Fionna, Callum and Quinn. He is also survived by his sister Vicki and brother David. Chris also had several brothers and sisters in law and dozens of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Chris’ family will be hosting a memorial/celebration of life in the upcoming weeks. Details will be shared shortly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or Sick Kids Hospital.
