Obituary of Mr. Maxey Claude Samuels
Our beloved Maxey Claude Samuels, 71, began his eternal rest on April 8, 2024, timed beautifully with a solar eclipse.
Maxey—commonly known as Max—was born to Claude Samuels and Lucille Brandt on February 20, 1953 in Georgetown, Guyana. In his younger years, he could be found climbing trees and playing dominoes with friends. Max had an affinity with athletics, which quickly earned him the nickname Sports. In 1983, he emigrated from Guyana in search of a new life for him and his growing family. Max was no stranger to hard work and took on odd jobs to make ends meet, until he was met with an opportunity to begin a career in fashion. Quickly excelling as a wardrobe consultant, Max became known by clients and dignitaries alike for his unique ability to find you the perfect suit. His suits were a reflection of his poise, but most notably his triumphant success in a new country.
Max will be fondly remembered as a loyal friend, a provider and particularly for his infectious laughter and smile.
Max is survived by his loving wife, Debra. His memory will be cherished by his children Yonette, Pierre, Charmayne, Melanie, Tammara, Takisha, Tamika, Towana and Krystal. He was the proud grandfather and great grandfather of Petal, Priscilla, Nicholas, Keyola, Neviah, Richael, Jericho, Amika and Isabella. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters Penelope, Judy, Ruth and Sylvia. Max is resting in paradise with his brother, Patrick.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11am. The service will be held at East Scarborough Church Of God in Scarborough, Ontario. Floral contributions can be ordered through coolgreenandshady.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to East Scarborough Church Of God in Maxey’s name.
