Obituary of Mr. Jack Hunt

Please share a memory of Mr. Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Jack Hunt, 83, of Scarborough, Ontario, on February 3, 2024, at Ehatare nursing home.

Jack, born on January 14, 1941, to Peeter and Marge (nee Kaaret) in Parnu, Estonia, embarked on a remarkable journey that took him from Liverpool, England, by boat, with his mother and two brothers. They arrived in Halifax before heading to Toronto by train in 1957.

A devoted motorcycle enthusiast since his days in England, Jack quickly rose in the motocross ranks, even competing in the world championship grand prix circuit in Europe.

Jack and his wife Diane established Torvan Motorsports, a thriving wholesale distribution company in Scarborough, Ontario, leaving a lasting impact on the motorcycle industry.

Jack and his family enjoyed winter trips to sunny Puerto Rico, where they explored Old San Juan's historic forts, ventured into the El Yunque Rain Forest, savored delicious food, and played Ms. Pac-Man at La Playa until no more quarters remained. They also built sand castles on the beach and enjoyed Jack's super salads in the kitchen.

In the summers, the family cherished time at the Codner's Cottage near Huntsville, Ontario. No trip was complete without stopping to eat at Weber's Hamburgers and dining inside one of their train cars. Time was spent on the lake successfully jet skiing and unsuccessfully water skiing, creating cherished memories.

Following the closure of Torvan Motorsports, Jack worked in retail at Zdeno Cycle in Kitchener, Ontario, bringing his successful career in the motorcycle world to a close.

Jack found comfort in the company of his motorcycle family, especially during Tuesday night gatherings with Hugh, Joe, Bob, and JC, where they reminisced about the good old days of motorcycles, long road trips, and flowing beer.

Jack was a happy man when surrounded by family and friends, and in 2011, his motorcycle industry successes brought him recognition when he was inducted into The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

Jack leaves behind his children, Joanne and Peter (Yvonne), from his marriage to Diane (nee McLean), along with his youngest brother Toomas (Donna), sister-in-law Ellen. Loving uncle to Lynn (Terry) and Susan (Derek), and great uncle to Cassidy and Carley.

He is preceded in death by his father Peeter, mother Marge, and eldest brother Avo.

In our hearts, Jack's spirit will forever endure, his legacy of love and adventure resonating with all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada in memory of Jack.
