Obituary of Mr. Ray Bing Keshwar
Joined in sorrow and blessed by a lifetime of cherished memories, the family of Ray Bing Keshwar announces his peaceful passing, with family at his side, on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 82 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
The youngest of eleven siblings, Ray is survived by a large and close-knit family, including his brother, Sam Keshwar (Pam); daughters, Sonia Keshwar and Natasha Barran (Sunil); son, Michael Keshwar and granddaughter, Thalia Keshwar. Ray is also survived by Barbara (Dawne) Keshwar (née Dukhie), his former spouse.
Ray was born in Trinidad and came to Canada as a young newlywed to complete undergraduate and graduate studies at McGill University and Dalhousie University. Ray was a dedicated and talented teacher who had a positive impact on so many students in Trinidad and Canada. Interested in global and local politics and volunteering as a local council campaign manager, he is also remembered as a golf, cricket, horse racing and soccer enthusiast. He loved his extensive family and friends and celebrated life with them.
He firmly believed in the value, power and joy of education. In lieu of flowers, Ray would be proud of donations to his alma maters, McGill University (MadebyMcGill.ca) and Dalhousie University (DalGiving.ca).
