Obituary of Mr. Alexander Kuma
Alexander Sowah Kuma, 77, of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away on January 10, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Andrew Seth and Comfort Oddoye Kuma on February 12, 1946, in Accra, Ghana. He is the fourth of eight children. Alexander immigrated to Canada in the early 1970s, where he attended the Ontario College of Art & Design. He worked as a graphic designer until his retirement from Staples Canada in 2017. He donated much of his time and support to the Ga-Adangbe Association of Toronto. In 2021, Alexander started a project called “The Gadangme Language and Culture Restoration Initiative,” which has collected support from Canada and Ghana.
He was known for his love of the Ghanaian culture, various music genres, visual art and football. His favourite team was the Buffalo Bills.
Alexander married Dinah in 1978, who survives him. He is also survived by three daughters (Trisha, Lesa, and Nicolle), and extended family members.
