Obituary of Mrs. Eugenia Dimitroulakos
Eugenia Dimitroulakos
December 26,1935 - January 10, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenia at age 88 born in the village of Mavrovouni Gytheio Greece to loving parents Pericles & Zafiro. Beloved and cherished wife of Anthony (decd.) the love of her life. Proud and doting mother of Panayiota (Steve), Jim (Donna) & Zafiroula (Darrin). Proud Yiayia to Virginia (Saverio), Vasili, Anthony, Phillip & Jenna. Great- Grandmother to her darling Donnella. Loving sister to Pitsa (Vasili decd.). Beloved sister-in-law and cousin to many and loved by all her nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S. & Greece.
Eugenia had a wonderful childhood growing up in a huge orchard house on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Her wonderful childhood included the love of family and friends, singing and dancing. She was an avid student always at the top of her class. She caught the eye of our Dad and the rest as we say is history and their love story legendary. Their family grew with the addition of Yiota & Jim and they made the huge decision to start anew and emigrated to Toronto in 1965. There she worked as a seamstress until Roula came along and then became a stay-at-home Mom. The house was always filled with love, laughter, family, and friends and the sound of her beautiful singing. She opened her house to so many and no one left her house hungry. She loved her life of taking care of her family, parties, Greek dances, family trips to New York & Greece, bbqs, visits to High Park & Lake Simcoe, and just spending time with her loved ones. She had a special close relationship with her dear sister Pitsa & bro-in-law Bill. Our Mom was also definitely a cat person and had a special bond with them all. Our parents became legendary on their street for sharing their tomatoes and bbq and for their love and display of garden flowers. Our Mom was so beautiful, caring and giving with a very generous spirit. In 1984 she joined our Dad in their Janitorial Company and retired together in 2002. Education was extremely important to her and greatly encouraged us and was proud we completed University and for Jim also earning his PhD. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She was always there for all of us with her wisdom, encouragement, amazing cooking, baking, singing, hugs and kisses. Her love for all of us was so special and deep. She doted on her darling grandchildren and great-granddaughter who all brought her such joy and laughter and was so proud of them all.
After the loss of our Dad in 2016 our Mom was beyond devastated but did the best she could to enjoy her life with her beloved family. In 2022 she became ill and in need of constant care and we are extremely thankful for the love and care provided to our Mom by the team at The Hellenic Home for the Aged.
We are heartbroken but remember what our Mom told us over and over these past few years. "Do not cry for me...I have lived the BEST life. If I had to do my life over again I would not change one thing and I love you all so much and feel proud to call you my family".
No words can be expressed how much she will be missed each and every day and she will Forever Be in our Hearts.
If so desired memorial donations can be made to Scott Mission. Our mother never wanted to see any one go hungry and as such one of their steadfast supporters.
