I just wanted to add a note here that my mom's sister-in-law and close friend Gail Murray (my aunt!), donated to HEART STROKE FOUNDATION CANADA / FONDATION DES MALADIES DU COEUR ET DE LAVC DU CANADA.
Gail is in the U.S. right now and had difficulty making the donation through the web site, but made the donation directly.
Thanks Gail, and thanks for all the support you have given my mom over the years!

Connie was my grandmother. Kind-hearted and humble, she has stood for love and grace for as long as I can remember. My most cherished memories are with her and my grandfather at their house, as seen in this lovely old Christmas photo. Her presence in my life, and in many others I'm sure, was a blessing. I am forever grateful for the times we shared, and still can't believe she is gone. I was aware of her persistent health struggles, and so I hope that she has finally found peace. Farewell my dear grandma. Rest easy.

As can be seen from many of the comments, so much of our family's lives centered around my grandfather's apple orchards and the Flindall farm in general, which we all remember so fondly. Here's a nice picture of Mom in the orchard.

Judy, thanks very much for the great photo. I think my Grandma must have had a copy of this in her albums, as well, because I feel like I've seen it before.

When I was young, Gordie and I called John "Big John" and John Jr. "Johnny". I have so many great memories playing with Johnny and Stephanie (and also Peter, at the time!) whenever I visited my grandparents. I'm so glad that the Flindall farm is still intact and thriving under your's and John's wonderful stewardship of the property.

A photo of Mom from the early 1950's taken by her Uncle Nix in front of what is now John's house. The scan doesn't do justice to the beauty of the original Kodachrome slide.

Gordie and David, I was so sorry to hear of Connie’s passing. I have many good memories of being at the apple orchard with Uncle Les and the family. Over the years, your Mom was very kind to our parents and always kept in touch with them. They loved hearing from her! Her thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. Keep her memory close and take comfort from her enduring love now and always.

Gordie and David and family. I was so sad to hear about your mom. Although it has been years since I saw Connie in person, I spoke with her a few years ago when my mom, her Aunt Georgena, passed. I have many lovely childhood memories of your mom at Uncle Les and Aunt Marge’s home in Brighton. Sending my deepest condolences and hope that a lifetime of happy memories help ease your loss.

Connie was my cousin just 3 years older than myself. Since we lived 3 houses apart, we often spent time together, especially in the summer - roaming our grandfather’s farm, searching in the creek for crayfish, playing ball, or knitting. We loved the apple orchards and the drive shed where the harvest was brought. It was a contest to find the biggest apple. Good memories.

I have such good memories of Connie and my sister and I roaming the farm together: tobogganing down the hill, skating on the pasture, making cucumber boats and floating our dolls down the creek. I have kept in touch by phone and so sad to hear of her struggles through covid and lately, she was too sick to talk. She is at peace now. God rest her soul.
