Obituary of Mrs. Clarice Ramnaraine

Clarice Ramnarain, 95, of Markham, passed away on Saturday Decemeber 30th 2023.

She married Ramnarain Maraj in 1943 in Guyana. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to us all. She was a religious devotee, very much involved in the Mandir and it's many activities. She was loved and had many friends.

Born in Guyana to Emma Sammy aka Auntie GoGo, and her father Seetram Maraj.

Clarice is preceded in death by her siblings: Sookmin, Deodat and Dagoo. Also her husband and sons: Ramnarain Maraj, Sham Maraj and Harry Ramnarain.

Clarice is survived by her children: Alex Ramnarain, Joanne Rampersaud, Shanti Daibee, Doug Ramnaraine and Maria Gougeon. 

Grandchildren: Colin Ramnarain, Shanta Ramnaraine, Sataish Rampersaud, Jim Maraj, Sean Maraj, Chris Maraj, Sandy Ramnarain, Valmiki Daibee, Michael Ramnarain, Andrew Gemon, Anand Daibee and Ashley Gemon. 

Great Grandchildren: Alexander Misir, Marcus Jones, Ashanti Misir, Miguel Maraj, Jacob Gemon, and Isaac Gemon

She lost her husband at age 45 and was left as a single mother to raise 7 children. 

She then immigrated to Canada where she lived her days growing up with her children and raising her grandchildren.

At the end of the day, it is important to honor your loved ones in the fashion that speaks closest to you, your relationship, and your heart.

Nothing is eternal except our love for our mother, grandmother Clarice. When we keep her in our hearts and remember all the good times we spent together, they can live forever in our memories.
