Mrs. Elsa Prowell

Obituary of Mrs. Elsa Prowell

Please share a memory of Mrs. Elsa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mrs. Elsa Theresa Prowell on December 23, 2023 at the age of ninety-two. Elsa was born in Meadow Bank, Georgetown, British Guiana on October 19, 1931 and most recently was a resident at the Ina Grafton Gage Home in Scarborough.

Elsa was predeceased by her parents Manoel and Maria (Emily) D’Aguiar; her siblings Julian, Cyril (Dominic) and Joseph D’Aguiar. Elsa was also predeceased by her beloved husband Oscar Fitzherbert Prowell their children Reynard Prowell, Barbara Petrie and Jacqueline James.  She is survived by her sister Mrs. Jovita Mendes, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Following the death of her dear husband Oscar; Elsa emigrated with her four youngest children to Canada reuniting them with her other children who had already settled there. While such a move from her homeland was difficult, Elsa persevered and succeeded in providing a sanctuary of love, care and comfort for her family.

Elsa was a devout Catholic and drew much strength and comfort from her faith in the Lord.

Her unwavering love, devotion and dedication to all of her children was shown through the care and guidance she provided within all aspects of their development and well-being. This unwavering love will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Elsa will undoubtably be remembered as a kind and loving person by all who knew her.
