Obituary of Mr. Vincenzo Palmisano
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Vincenzo Palmisano, a beloved husband, father, father in-law, brother and brother in-law, uncle and cherished Nonno and Bis-Nonno. Vincenzo departed this world on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from his home in Pickering. He leaves a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Vincenzo is survived by his loving wife, Maria, married for 59 years and the woman with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Together, they faced life's challenges as new Canadians and built an unbreakable bond while cultivating a better life for their growing family. Vincenzo’s spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of his children; his three daughters Phyllis (Glen), Josie (Fred), Gabriella (Ido), and his son Tony (Connie), who carry his legacy forward. Vincenzo would always light up with pride and joy when being surrounded by his grandchildren, Samantha, Marisa, Christina, Jessica, Julia, Anthony, Luca, Olivia, Sabrina and Marco, and his great-grandchildren, Austin, Noah and Theo. He would always smile when he saw the kids and enjoyed celebrating their milestones and always showered them with unconditional love and giving them money.
Born on January 20, 1938, in the town of Termini Imerese, Province of Palermo, Sicily to Antonino and Filomena Palmisano, he was the eldest and began working at a young age to help support his family. In 1960, Vincenzo and his family immigrated to Canada to start a new life along with their families and relatives from the same town. He met his beloved wife Maria through family relatives, courted and were married on June 6, 1964. His life was a testament to hard work, many sacrifices and an unwavering commitment to his family. He worked at General Motors at the Scarbrough Van Plant for over 20 years and then retired. He was so excited to bring home a loaner van for the weekend and go for a drive and pick up pizza. Vincenzo loved watching all sports, but in particular, watching soccer on Sunday mornings and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. He took a great deal of pride in his plants and roses and spending time in his garden growing tomatoes, long zucchini and eggplant. He always had a passion for canaries and loved hearing them singing in the house and backyard. Vincenzo loved to travel and always found peace and tranquility relaxing on the beach in Wasaga, Fort Lauderdale, Termini Imerese and Cuba while creating enduring memories with his family.
Vincenzo will be sadly missed by all that knew him. We loved our papa and took care of him as he took care of us. May he rest in peace, and may his soul find eternal solace in the arms of God and be surrounded by his parents and many family members that have predeceased him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada.
