Sandra Elhilali was a bright light and inspiration to all colorectal cancer survivors as she fought an amazing battle as a stage 4 cancer patient. She was the first person I knew who had a life saving liver transplant to clear her cancer and this afforded her 4 more years with her family. This has always brought me so much hope if my cancer returns.
After her successful surgery Sandra said, “I am forever grateful and blessed for this second chance at life. Every moment I get to spend with my children, sharing adventures and simple moments, or seeing the world, is a gift I will cherish forever.”
I’ll never forget the tragedy she had to face when she lost her husband Sharif when he passed suddenly and unexpectedly and her whole world again fell apart. She told me she had lost her greatest supporter and forever optimist. Thankfully, together with her strong and supportive children she pulled through.
I only saw Sandra a few times over the years as we worked together on fundraisers and advocacy roles for colorectal cancer patients with CCRAN, as Covid got in our way, but she was a glowing light and a true inspiration to me and we became fast supporters to each other.
The world light is a bit dimmer today.
May she Rest in Peace.

It was years ago when Sharif and Sandra were dating Rosanne and I spent a lot of time together with the two either in Toronto or in Niagara . This one summer we invited them along with Larry and Sharon , Steve and Dawn- Marie to house boat with all of us on the Trent Canal for five days each day one couple would take on the responsibility to manage the boat and breakfast . I remember this so well , the day they took over Sandra made the breakfast , blue berry pancakes from scratch in a dress we all loved her for that . We'll miss you tremendously . Uncle Lewis

On behalf of the Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN), it is with profound sadness I send along our sincere condolences to Jasmine and Eric and the entire family on the loss of this loving, caring and bright light who filled everyone's days with love and happiness.
We had the privilege of supporting, educating and advocating on behalf of Sandra since her original colorectal cancer diagnosis and it brought us much fulfillment and gratification to know that she had finally reached a disease free status, because we know first hand how tirelessly she fought every day to achieve that status, not only for herself, but for her precious children.
it pains us to know her Creator decided to limit her time with her family and friends, calling her to His side. She will be immensely missed and mourned but most certainly never forgotten, for her light will continue to shine in her children and in the hearts and minds of those she touched everyday while she lived her life with passion and joy.

Beloved Sandra,
I am devastated by your passing. God wanted you to join the heavenly angel kingdom ✨️. You were truly and angel on this earth.
You thought many of us how to deal with unbearable pain with grace. We spoke few days ago your phone had dialed me by accident little did I know it was last time I would hear your voice.
You came at Jack's birthday in September and we shared a great conversation and cried.
You were given short time to live after your diagnostic but God allowed us 5 years .
Rest in peace sweet friend. We will stay close to Eric and Jasmine. My prayers go out to them hope they find strength to carry on just how you carried through your own pain.
Until we meet again, love you Sandra ❤️
