From Ret'd Major Roger Mc Lean
Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force
Alston was a generous and accommodating man. He knew nothing about me besides his son telling him that we were friends and colleagues invited me out to lunch when I was in deployment in St Vincent. I don't think it was necessarily on the menu that day but Alston ensured it had roti and I was made to feel welcomed. The conversation flowed like if we knew each other for years. During that time he found out that there were several of us on the deployment, he promptly said he was hosting all of us to dinner at his residence before we left. No matter how I tried to beg out, telling him the offer was appreciated but we wouldn't want to impose he insisted...... resistance was futile. He said my son's friends must be treated well. From that brief interaction with him I determined the measure of the man. May he soar with the angels and Rise In Power
