Linda Yvonne Taylor

January 24, 1950 – September 28, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Linda Yvonne Taylor (née Peddle) who left us peacefully at home on September 28, 2023, at the age of 73.

Born in Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland, Linda was the youngest daughter in a family of five brothers and six sisters born to Edith (née Stuckless) and Enurchus Peddle. She often shared heartwarming memories from her childhood about the daily activities, mischief and adventures that created close, loving and lifelong bonds between them.

As a teen Linda moved to Toronto seeking more opportunities than her small hometown could offer. Living with sisters and close friends she made the most of her new city by balancing hard work with fun days at the beach and nights roller skating and dancing. It was during those formative years that she met her husband Michael who she married in 1971. Together, they settled in Scarborough and raised three children.

A gentle soul with an adventurous spirit, Linda inspired those around her through her unparalleled optimism, enduring creativity, and a willingness to try new things. She mastered everything she put her mind to whether it was sewing, painting or creating treasured stained glass lamps and panels for her family.

An avid walker for over 30 years, Linda loved being outdoors and nurtured that love in her children, first through summers camping with extended family and later at cottages in the Kawarthas. Following her retirement from Dad’s Cookies where she was an administrator for many years, she and Michael enjoyed all seasons at their cottage with a project or two always underway.

After receiving an unexpected cancer diagnosis with a prognosis of only weeks, Linda thought only of her family who she knew would miss her dearly. Her resilience, unwavering kindness, generosity, and love will be forever cherished by them as they hold her memory close.

Loved ones who will miss her so much are many: her husband Michael, daughter Janice (David), son Glen (Kim), son Gary; grandchildren Chloe, Charlie, Mason, Dylan and Aaron; four surviving siblings - Thomas (Hersey), Winston (Jocelyn), Ronald (Chris) of Newfoundland, and Bernice Milley (Victor) of Toronto; as well as many extended family and friends.

In memory of Linda’s devotion to caring for her husband Michael, donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
