I fondly recall Dr. Thomas-Edding teaching me in the BScPT program at the School of Occupational and Physical Therapy at McGill University, class of 1990. She had so much class and was a passionate advocate for the physical therapy profession. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

The late Dr. Dorothy Thomas-Edding was a pillar of strength and determination, whose commitment to excellence was matched by her resolute support of vulnerable patients and communities.
I remember her telling me, merely 1 year ago, that she continued to prioritize her daily walks outdoors to maintain mobility and strength. Wearing her Professor hat, she stated emphatically: “Do not ever forget that we will lose it rapidly if we don’t use it.” Dr. Dorothy applied her talents and wisdom acquired from life’s lessons not only to her own benefit, but to the benefit of her community locally in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and her homeland of Jamaica. Nothing gave her more joy than to see her students thrive around the world. Her scholarship and talents have improved the lives of many while inspiring others to follow her example. It was truly a privilege to know her and to have the opportunity to share deep reflections during the twilight of her life. During our conversations, Dr. Dorothy expressed abiding love and admiration for her lifelong friends, Dr. Mair Sr. and Mrs. Lauris Mair and their family. She beamed with pride for her dear godson, Dr. Anthony Mair Jr, his wife, Noorin and their children. Her relocation to Toronto toward the end of her journey through this fragile space called Earth was motivated by a strong desire to be in closer proximity to her family, and to her only beloved sister, Mrs. Lauris Mair.
To the entire Mair family, our hearts ache for your loss. Even as you mourn Dr. Dorothy’s passing, we pray that you will be comforted by the knowledge that the bond you shared was the source of lifelong joy and that her latter years were infused with wonderful memories, thanks to your unique relationship. Her legacy endures through your family, her many students, and all who had the privilege of crossing her path. May her soul forever Rest In Peace.
With our deepest condolences.
From Dr. Anita Brown-Johnson, Dr. Dexter G. Johnson and family.

My heartfelt condolences to Dorothy’s family and friends. It was my pleasure to have known Dorothy when we both served on the Board of Directors of the McGill Women’s Alumnae Association of our alma mater. Dorothy inspired and motivated me. I write these words with a heavy heart, as I've lost a true and dear friend in Dorothy, and wish I had gotten the chance to say goodbye. After she retired, we both shared our passion to stay connected to our Faculty and McGill as volunteers, sitting on various boards and co-chairing various initiatives for many years. I am filled with nothing but happy memories of our friendship and volunteerism efforts over the years. I will miss my loyal friend and sister, and she will remain in my heart forever. I extend my sincere condolences to all the members of her family. Respectfully, Nellie.

Dorothy, you were an amazing woman and it was my honour and privilege to have worked with you over the years in your capacity as a volunteer at the McGill. I will miss greatly seeing you on campus and at events, but most of all, I will miss your smile. You had this uncanny ability to bring people together with a compassionate and collaborative spirit that often was used to benefit and enrich students. Seeing you and Anelia together and the beautiful friendship you shared was as staple across the McGill Community. I thank you for having been a positive and bright light in my life.
xoxo
