Mrs. Giovanna Costantino

Obituary of Mrs. Giovanna Costantino

Please share a memory of Mrs. Giovanna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts we celebrate and honor the passing of Giovanna Sidoti Costantino. Born as
the youngest daughter to her parents Nicolo and Giovanna Sidoti on the eleventh of November
1941 in Gioiosa Marea, Italy. Growing up in a family of 8, Giovanna bore much love for her
siblings Rosa, Salvatore, Demenico, Ignazia, Nunzio, Antonino and Tindaro in their family home
in Sicilia.

In the year 1964 during the beautiful winter of December, Giovanna married the love of her life,
Salvatore Gisueppe Costantino on the day of the 21st. Cementing their love in the eyes of God and
beginning their new life together in holy matrimony. It was with heavy and anxious hearts that
they left their ancestral home and family behind to follow Giovanna’s brothers to start a new life
in North America. Settling in Canada and establishing roots on January 19th 1966 where they
would start to build their beautiful home in a community of people that would become their closest
friends.

Not long after, in February of 1968, they were blessed with their first child together; their
beloved daughter Carmela Costantino. It was a day of rejoicing and the start of their family.
Soon after they would have many memories, establishing routes followed by the birth of their son
Nicolo and youngest daughter Lucia.
Throughout the years of her life, Giovanna enjoyed many hobbies; her love of gardening, cooking,
baking, seamstressing and even being a part-time comedian to her grandchildren she was a
woman of many talents. Yet her true passion resided in her devotion to being a loving wife and
caring mother to her children and grandchildren. Giovanna would be blessed to get to know and
love four grandchildren in her time; Mateo and Massimo Garcia and later Christian and
Samantha Karabulut.

Giovanna’s faith in God sustained her and gave her the strength to overcome the many obstacles
she faced in her life. With God by her side, the good days were abundant and the bad days were
made easy with her love, temperance and family beside her.
Sadly, on the night of October 8th 2023, our beloved Giovanna, passed away peacefully in her
sleep, surrounded by family and loved ones, ascending into heaven to be with those we have lost
and to be with God in heaven. An angel, whose light touched those around her, Giovanna lifted
the hearts of those she met and it is with heavy hearts that we must know go into that dark
uncertainty with only her memories, love, and taste in fine Italian cuisine to keep us company in
her absence. We know she is up there with the Lord our Father.
