Obituary of Mrs. Sybil Hamilton
August 15, 1930 – September 18, 2023
In Loving Memory
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Sybil Hamilton announces the passing of our beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Sybil was predeceased by her husband Joshlyn, who passed away in 2008. She leaves behind her children, Rudolph, Joycelyn, Stephen, Ian and Janice and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Sybil was born in Guyana to Doris and Joseph Blackett. She was a hard worker who never failed to provide for her children and loved ones by any means necessary.
Upon moving to Canada in 1972, Sybil began working at a factory and helped support family back home. Her cooking was legendary and everyone looked forward to her meals. Even the most unexpected guests were sure to leave her home with a freshly prepared meal and full stomach.
Sybil was often on the phone, chatting with friends and family near and far. She maintained close relationships with her loved ones and had no shortage of people to call.
At family gatherings, Sybil was often the first one on the dance floor. Despite knee replacements and an aging body, music always moved her and everyone that knew her witnessed her zest for life.
Sybil was a God-fearing woman and attended church regularly up until the pandemic halted weekly services. Being close to the Lord and spreading his word to family and friends was important to Sybil.
It’s for this reason that though we are sad, we are not broken. And though we are hurting, we are also healing. Because we know that she’s in a better place with the Lord and our loved ones that have already passed on and she is no longer suffering.
Rest in eternal peace, sweet Sybil. We will carry you in our hearts forever.
