Obituary of Mrs. Suke Chin Cha Fong

Please share a memory of Mrs. Suke Chin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Suke Chin who left us on August 27, 2023. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her impact on our lives will be felt for generations to come.

Born on August 29, 1926 in Guangdong, a coastal province of south east, China, Suke Chin was a beacon of strength and kindness. She touched the lives of many with her warm laugh, nurturing spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Throughout her life, she was a strong woman that inspired all who knew her.

In the early 50s, she migrated to Kingston, Jamaica to join her first husband, Albert George Ho Chen (Fah On), with two of their children staying with their grandmother in China.  There they built a wonderful life together and went on to have three more children.

After the sudden passing of Albert, she spearheaded the family supermarket business all while raising their three young kids.

In the 70’s, she got married to her late husband, Leslie Cha Fong. They went on to run a successful family restaurant in Jamaica, in addition to hosting evening cooking classes which were always well attended. Her culinary skills were a testament to her love of cooking and she found joy in preparing meals that brought her family and loved ones together around the table. In 2013, Leslie passed away.

She was preceded in death by her son Johnny Ho Chen (Zarema), and survived by her children, To Ming (Maureen), Shirley (Andrew), Patsy (Paul), Sandra (Alain) including grandchildren, Mark (Holly), Richard (Bianca), Yvonne, Ada, Wayne, Kathryn (Alan), Stephanie, Kimberly (Mariusz), Victoria, Sheena (Michael), Kerrie, Danielle (Mauricio) and great-grandchildren, Andrew Jr., Christian, Matthew, Kingston, Curtis, Lucas, Raine, River, Hanna and Maximilian.  Her legacy lives on through the values she instilled in her family and the love she shared with everyone around her.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Lakeridge Gardens (www.lhfoundation.ca), where she resided since June 2022. The family is grateful for the dedication of the nurses and PSW workers who ensured her well-being throughout her time there.
