Obituary of Mr. Patrick Dennis
Patrick Dennis was a kind, sensitive and genuine man, who was the personification of good. His lust for life was contagious. You seldom had a conversation with him that didn’t include laughter. He was well versed on every topic and someone on whom you could always depend. He was born in Harry Watch, Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies and was his parents' last child; the ‘washbelly’. Patrick moved to Canada as a young man, and settled into the life that most immigrants dream of, with a job and his own place. He was a free spirit and carved his path to entrepreneurism by entering the taxi business. Patrick however, was not a confirmed bachelor. Years before he immigrated to Canada, he met the love of his life. One to follow his heart, he set out in pursuit of reuniting with his love, Majorita (Madge). In the beginning of the 1990’s he was able to bring his bride, who now had a daughter, Tanesha, home. Together they formed a family of three. Soon thereafter they became a family of four, with the arrival of his one and only, Patrick Dennis Jr., more frequently referred to by him as J or JR; the apple of his eye. He thrived as a father, instilling hard work, faith and values into his children. Together with Madge, he created a home that was warm and filled with love. They were always surrounded by family. Patrick became a widow in 2008, with Madge’s sudden passing. He battled chronic health issues which progressed more severely in the years following her death. He was constantly supported by his children as he navigated medical appointments and procedures. Though his later years were physically taxing, he continued to be the cornerstone to his family and a support to his friends. Many of you reading this hold your own memories and stories of how he enriched your lives. He was a gem of a human, an excellent husband, father, brother, uncle, grand uncle and friend. May your memories of Patrick be imprinted on your heart and bring you joy, whenever you need it.
