Obituary of Ms. Vida Law 何羅麗姸夫人
Vida Lai-Yin Law (羅麗姸), age 61, passed away peacefully at home on July 13.
Vida was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong, on July 12, 1962, the eighth child of Law Po-Kang and Mak Kam-Yip.
Vida graduated from Ng Yuk Secondary School. She completed a nursing diploma at Nethersole Hospital Nursing School in 1985 and worked at Queen Elizabeth Hospital until she emigrated to Canada in 1994, joining her siblings in Toronto.
In August 1995, Vida married Che-Kwok Ho. In 1996, she began working at Yee Hong, providing care to Chinese seniors. In October 1996, Vida gave birth to her son, Vincent Wai-Dek Ho. She continued working at Yee Hong until she retired in March 2023.
Vida was a kind, loving and generous wife, mother, sister and aunt. Her happy personality brought joy to everyone who knew her. She loved to laugh, tell jokes and give gifts. Vida enjoyed travelling, as well as having dim sum and afternoon tea with her sisters. She also loved cats—she adopted her second “son,” a cat named Max, in 2014.
Vida is survived by her husband, Che-Kwok Ho, and her son, Vincent Wai-Dek Ho. She is also survived by her siblings Peter, Quincy, Ryder, Teresa, and Effie; brothers-in-law Patrick, Wing, Tom, William, David, Chun-Wah and Erik; sisters-in-law Leela, Grace, Yu-Yuk, May, Holly and Cecilia; and nieces and nephews Jaclyn, Deanna, Hazel, Ada, David, Lesley, Christopher, Nicole, Aegina, Claire, Lok-Man, Vanessa, Hollis and their families.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ogden Funeral Homes, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto.
The funeral service will also be held at Ogden Funeral Homes at 4164 Sheppard Avenue East on Wednesday, July 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
