Obituary of Mr. Fayez Essa Nasser
Fayez (Frank) Nasser, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2023. He will be missed by his four children Joe (Monica), Claudine (Jim), Nadia (Harley), and Norm (Linh), his three brothers Fouad (Alice), Fred (Lily) and Faiq (Mary). He will also be missed by his ten grandchildren (Michael, Sarah, Jessica, James, Emily, Jordan, Olivia, Ian, Isabella, and Lucas), great-granddaughter Aaliyah, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Frank was a unique and complex man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. Born in Palestine on August 27, 1936, Frank’s early years were shaped by the chaos of war and the aftermath of political and religious conflicts. He lost his father as a teenager, and quickly shifted his responsibility to supporting his mother and three younger brothers. Despite the many challenges, Frank's determination and resilience guided him through life.
At the young age of 21, Frank left Palestine and sought new opportunities in Baghdad, Iraq, where he later married and had two children (Joe and Claudine) before moving to Canada in 1967. Frank joined the renowned German optics company, Carl Zeiss where he thrived both personally and professionally. He met his second partner Monika in the early 70’s and welcomed two more children into the world (Nadia and Norman). In the early 80s, Frank embarked on a new path, starting his own business, Microlites Scientific. His unwavering dedication and entrepreneurial spirit allowed the business to flourish over the years, catering to the specialized and technical lighting industry. One of Frank's innovative accomplishments was his patented classification system that helped to simplify the complexities of the lighting market which, according to customers, was pivotal in preventing the agony of ordering replacement parts.
Though the advent of the internet and advancements in LED lighting impacted his business, Frank persevered until he eventually sold Microlites Scientific and retired a few years ago. In recent years, health challenges, including a fall and dementia, took their toll on him. Despite these difficulties, his warmth and love for his family remained intact until his last days.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff who have supported and cared for our father, Frank while at Trilogy and Shepherd Village these last 4 years. Thank you also to the many families and friends who have sent their love and support these past few days, we are grateful for all your kind thoughts and well-wishes.
