Obituary of Mrs. Panagiota Contos
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Panagiota Contos (“Penny”, “Manoula”) passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2023, surrounded by her family at North York General Hospital. Penny was a devoted wife to her husband Mike, loving mother to her children (Bill, Chris, Sadie and Konstantinos) and to her grandchildren (David and Penny). Penny was a caring and loving sister, aunt, cousin, and to everyone in this world.
Penny was born on Aug 1, 1947 in Gythio, Greece to her parents Stavroula and Christos. Penny came to Canada at a young age with big dreams. Not knowing the english language. Penny would not let that stop her. In the early 80's Penny opened her own business with husband Mike and built it from the ground up. In 1988 Penny was awarded woman of the year in the Toronto Sun for building her successful business empire. Penny started her own Non-profit charitable organization. Which she devoted her whole heart and soul to helping those in need.
We were truly fortunate to have cherished every single day we shared with Penny. Her smile, her light, sense of humour, and kindness enriched our lives beyond measure. She brought joy to everyone she knew — from close family, friends, coworkers to everyone she’d meet.
Penny will also be deeply missed by her Church family and friends.
