GRANT, Richard Cecil:  It is with sadness that the family of Richard Cecil Grant announce his passing on May 9, 2023 of natural causes.

Cecil will be remembered by his spouse, Elaine Francis; daughters, Chantelle (Scott Brock), Aisha, and Riann; grandson, Kane; siblings, Clotilda, Adolf and Vincent; nephews, nieces, numerous cousins and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his ex-wife Ruthlin Grant; parents Gordon and Kathleen; and siblings, Yvonne, and Venola.

Cecil was born on December 22, 1950, in Willemstad Curaçao, and moved to St. Vincent and the Grenadines during his primary school years. After graduating from Emmanuel High School, he became a teacher, and later joined the police force. Emigrating in 1970, he continued his service in law enforcement and graduated at the top of his class from police college; he retired with 30 years’ service as a Detective of the Toronto Police Service in 2002.

A generous and jovial spirit, Cecil’s family and friends were always welcome and present to share a laugh, libation and music.  He participated in the Caribbean Carnival community around the world.  When he was able, he loved to ride his motorcycle, and had a passion for tinkering with old cars.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Cecil’s name to the Diabetes Association
