Obituary of Mr. Nicola Baviello
Nicola Baviello passed away peacefully in his 95th year on the afternoon of May 11, 2023 at his home of many years on Wellpark Blvd. in the embrace of his loving and devoted son Ettore and surrounded by his daughter Elvira and family.
Nicola was predeceased by his beloved wife Emilia (May 1, 2016) whom he adored and will now by the grace of God be reunited with her in spiritual love in heaven.
Nicola was a generous Papa with unconditional love for his son Ettore and daughter Elvira. A loving caring grandfather to granddaughter Rachele and husband Marc, granddaughter Melissa and husband Jimmy and grandson Julian. Nicola was also an adoring loving great grandfather to his great grandchildren Jocelyn, Alessia, Julia and Bianca. Nicola was in return cherished and loved for his goodness and grace by his entire family and friends.
Nicola son of Ettore and Elvira Baviello was born in Zungoli Italy on September 9, 1927. Although he only spent the first 26 years of his life in Italy, those years were both formative and filled with significant events. These are the years that shaped Nicola's character to become a very hard worker and generous selfless provider. In his youth he worked in the post office with his father where he also learned to send telegrams using morse code. Versatile and needing to make a living he also practised the trade of shoemaking as well as working in a travel agency with mentor and friend Andrea. The most significant event for Nicola occurred at the tender age of 22 when he met and married his lifelong love and beautiful wife Emilia. They subsequently shared life and love together for the next 68 years.
At 26 years of age Nicola and Emilia now having 2 children in tow, 4 year old Ettore and 2 year old Elvira, set off for the proverbial land of opportunity in 1953 and emigrated to Canada landing by boat in Halifax and moving on to Toronto. Right from the get go Nick and Emily as they become known in Canada both worked very hard to provide the best life they could for their young family. Having a home of their own for Nick and Emily was paramount and this was achieved in their first decade in Canada. Nicola truly provided holistically for his family. Not only did he provide for their physical needs but also provided loyal, unwavering, heartfelt support for their mental and spiritual well being and especially so if a loved one was in trouble or needed consoling.
Nicola was at essence a selfless provider and family man. Nothing pleased him more than sharing a meal with family and loved ones at his and mom's dinner table. To just say "sharing a meal" is an understatement. The meal was always a lovingly prepared home made feast that all who partook pronounced as being both beyond excellent and so very delicious. Another passion for Nicola was his "orto" (vegetable patch) and his garden and flowers. He cultivated and attended to both with hard working caring hands and both blossomed rewardingly.
To some Nicola may have seemed to be an average ordinary man but to those who truly knew and loved him he was a hero of epic proportions. Nicola was a compassionate, lovely, gentle man filled with goodness and grace ... a son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, friend ... for all the things you were in life ... your warm friendly smile, your soft embrace, your gentle voice, your hard working caring hands, your sweet soul for all these things and more you will forever be sadly and profoundly missed.
May God bless you Nicola and may you rest in peace and happiness in Our Lord's divine light and everlasting love in heaven.
