Obituary of Mr. Carlton George Shim

Carlton George Shim, 80, died on March 29th 2023, at his longtime home in Scarborough.  He is survived by his devoted wife Ethlyn, his daughter Carolyn, two sons Martin and Mark, and daughters-in-law Angelique and Gloria, respectively.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Zackary, Jaden, Grace and Nathan.  He loved sports throughout his entire life.  In his youth in Jamaica he played “footbaahl” (soccer) and badminton.  When he immigrated to Canada, he and Ethlyn hosted a badminton club in school gyms that lasted several decades.  Even when diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over 13 years ago, he continued playing until a few years ago, when he could no longer enjoy himself.  He was an avid sports fan, rooting for all the Toronto teams.  He was a man of simple tastes, whose greatest pleasure was to be around dear friends and his beloved family.  He will be greatly missed.
