With great sorrow, The Ubando family announces the passing of our beloved Rafael Polumbarit Ubando, 61, of Scarborough, ON, on March 8, 2023.

Rafael was an intelligent, kind, and thoughtful soul, and will be greatly missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He’s known for being an easy-going, fun-loving person that’s always ready to pull a light-hearted joke out of his sleeves at any given time to break the ice. He loved road trips, nature, travelling the world, and enjoyed being surrounded and spending time with his family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone in his life in any way he could without a second thought. He was a generous human being that was full of life. He was a dearly loved son, brother, uncle and friend, and we are all deeply saddened and heartbroken of his unexpected passing.

Rafael was born in Dagupan, Philippines on April 28, 1961. He graduated from Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation with a degree in Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.

In his early days, Rafael’s career included being a Site Manager at Simian Conservation Breeding and Research Center in the Philippines, to his late role in the Bioresources Department at Sanofi Pasteur in Toronto, Canada as an Advanced Technician.
