Uncle Jack Chow
I remember the kindness you showed our family each time we stayed at your home. You always welcomed us and would tell me about your latest course or hobby. You were so patient and kind, answering my many questions such as how to develop colour film, how to paint on glass, Toronto politics, Taiwan politics and the latest news in Toronto’s Chinatown. Your patience and kindness to me made my childhood richer and my trips to Toronto so memorable.
Thank for always being such a great uncle. Heaven has received another angel.

Dearest YeYe,
I will always remember the absolute joy that radiated from you whenever you were with your family. Always smiling, always laughing as you watched your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren celebrate, eat and play. All of these things possible because of your brave decision so many years ago. An ultimate act of love and hope.
We love you and miss you so much,
Monica, Shawn, Penelope and Rawdon

Dad,
Thank you for being my father.
You worked very hard to bring me, Mom, Helen, and Henry to this beautiful country, providing us the opportunity to Pursue our career and raising our own family.
Your kindness, warmth, caring, openness, and working ethic not only make you lots of friends but also become the excellent example and guidance for all of us to follow.
As your eldest son, and growing up under your guidance, I have the opportunity to meet most of your relatives, friends, colleagues, and even the bosses. They all have
only the good things to say about you. Thry expressed their desire to to be your friends and enjoy all the pleasant moments with you whether it is a casual chat, a session of Tai Chi exercise, a game of Ping Pong or Mah Jong., Every now and then I happened to run into them, they always put their hand on my shoulder and say: your father is a wonderful good man., how is he doing?.
My family and all your friends will miss you, but sure that you will be happy to be with Mom and all the uncles again., and make lots of friends in no time.
Dad, I am proud of you and proud being your son.
God be with you always.
Love,
Harry and Queenie.

Uncle Jack was full of kindness and had such a gentle nature. I will never forget his generosity and hospitality, welcoming me to his Soho Square home as a place to stay whenever I visited Toronto, even on short notice. What I most remember about my encounters with Uncle Jack was that he always seemed to be in a good mood. Perhaps that is the secret to longevity.
My deepest condolences to cousins Harry, Henry and Helen, and their families.

We will dearly miss my beloved 公公. The many memories will carry us forward during this difficult time. We will cherish the sounds of his joyful laughs, visualize his masterpieces of his Chinese paintings, savour and appreciate the simple tasty dishes that bring joy to our tastebuds (egg tarts, Chinese sausages in rice, Wonton noodles with red vinegar) and miss the secret outings to the Convenience stores to get treats for all the kids. You inspired all to live and enjoy life to the fullest. Rest in peace.

My family and I have great memories of Uncle Chow and his wonderful close family.
From childhood in North Bay, our family would visit Toronto every year and stay with Uncle. I remember visiting Uncle Chow at the print shop where Uncle and Aunt worked long days. Uncle took us to City Hall and bought treats for us on hot summer nights. We were a close knit family and we attended all there children’s weddings and there kids major events. They came often to visit us in North Bay. Harry and Henry spent time with us working at the family Plaza Restaurant and the Golden Dragon. We spend many a memorable long night with all our cousins, nieces and nephews waiting for the Adults to finish a friendly game of MJ at the Soho residence, Harrys home and Helens home after a delicious homecooked meal. Too many great memories to list.
In the last few years as Uncle’s health declined, my Mom took to checking up on Uncle weekly and found his spirits high and his memory solid. We are very saddened from his sudden pasting but we are content now he will rest next to family and the MJ game will likely continue. Thank you Uncle Chow for all the great memories.

As a child, I knew and liked the soft-spoken gentleman whenever our families got together. With three decades separating us, I didn’t really get to know Uncle Tor until much later in my adult life. I’m glad to say we then made up for it whenever we did see each other. We had no lack of topics and many lively conversations. I wish we had more. I will miss you, Uncle Tor. But I’m sure the angels are smiling in welcome of such a gentle soul.
