My Aunt Thelma will be fondly remembered as a sweet, kind aunt who cared about family. I recall, from younger years, enjoying many family dinners hosted by Aunt Thelma and Uncle Art. Many years later after I had moved from Ontario, she took the time to visit Susan and I in Vancouver when Nancy was also living there.
Thelma was a close and loving sister to my father, Murray. I recently finished reading the diaries my Dad kept when he was overseas during the war and he often mentioned letters he had received from his sister Thelma. In fact I believe that she had given him the first diary as a parting gift. They were obviously close as siblings and Dad always kept a photograph of Thelma in his room. I recall My Mom and Dad’s stories about how much fun they had socializing with Thelma and Art during the early years of their marriages. Many years later, with her brother Bruce and sister in law Dolina, she often made the journey from Toronto to Barrie in order to visit Murray in his later years in the care home. That sisterly love meant so much to my father and to all of us.
