Obituary of Mr. Roy McPherson

Roy Constantine McPherson died unexpectedly in Centenary Hospital on January 11th, 2023, in Scarborough, Ontario at the age of 79. Roy is survived by five of his children, Paula, Susan, Lesa, Kisha, and Nathaniel; his siblings, Patsy, Desmond, Doxie, Yvonne, and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his two sons, Leighton, and Steve.

 
Roy was born on June 1st, 1943, in Gimmie-mi-bit, Clarendon, Jamaica to Cyril and Mildred McPherson. After moving to Toronto, Canada, in 1967, he met and married Mavis Pringle, in 1968. After graduating from Centennial College as a certified mechanic, Roy began working for various companies in the truck and coach industry. Over the years he also maintained his own private business in which he used his mechanic skills and expertise to assist his friends, family, and members of the community.


Roy was a kind, generous, and caring individual who genuinely loved people. He was a man who made himself part of a community everywhere he went. Over the last 10 years, he became a regular parishioner of Morningstar Christian Fellowship, which was the last church he attended before he passed.


Visitation (viewing) will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2023 between 5 and 8 pm at Ogden Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 28th, at 11:30 am at Morningstar Christian Fellowship at 7601 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough, ON. Pastor Dennis Campbell will officiate the ceremony. A reception (repass) to follow the service at West Hill United Church (MA'AT Centre) at 62 Orchard Park Dr, Scarborough, Ontario. 

 

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roy’s life. Flowers can be sent to Ogden Funeral Home prior to Friday, January 27th, 2023, for viewing and visitation. The family of the late Roy Constantine McPherson wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness, shown to them during this difficult time.
