Obituary of Mrs. Matilda Narain

It is with great sadness that the family of Matilda Narain (affectionately known as Grandma)
announce her passing on Monday, January 2 at the age of 93.
She was the loving wife of Deo Bahal for over 60 years, and will be warmly remembered by her
children: Vishnu (Rena), Rita (Drew, deceased), Chris (Maria), Sandra (Deodat), Harry (deceased),
Charlie, Cecil, Kamo (Roger), Wally (Patsy) and Robin. Matilda will be missed by her 22
grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild, and her numerous other
family members and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, Harry, Frank, Samwell and Seelall, and sisters, Darling and Ronie and
her brother-in-law, Cutta, and her sisters-in law, Betha, Bundo, Baby, and Seeta. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bunadie; her mother-and-father-in-law, Sarah and Bahal; her
late husband, Deo; her son, Harry; her son-in-law, Drew; her siblings, Hitlall, Garo, Jailall and
Rookmin; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Kathar, Chan, Bola, Amarnauth, Mudas, and Sugan.
Grandma will be warmly remembered for being compassionate and caring and deeply committed to
her family and faith. She was a loving and giving person who had a great sense of humour and who
loved to laugh and share happy moments with family and friends. She will be fondly missed for her
natural charm and sense of style, her independence, and adventurous spirit.
To celebrate her life, a viewing will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with a Funeral
Service following at 12:30 pm at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough, Ontario.
Afterwards, a service will be held from 2:30 to 3:00 pm at the Highland Hills Crematorium, 12492
Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, Ontario.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Scarborough Centenary Hospital and
the Peter K Kwok Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time. The family would
also like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Ogden Funeral Home for their extraordinary
assistance and reassurance coordinating her funeral.
