Obituary of Mrs. Florence Thomas
Thomas, Florence Veronica nee Ebanks (Lull).
Died peacefully on December 19th, 2022, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by son Desmond (Sheri), and grandchildren Sherise, Christopher, Christiana, David, and Brasilia.
Daughter Winsome and granddaughter Bethany.
Florence was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on January 24th, 1946. She is predeceased by her first child, daughter Jacqueline Jennifer at 1 year old, husband Ezikiel Thomas (Carl) 21 years ago, parents Steven (2002) and Rebecca (2011) Ebanks, and brothers Adrian (Simond, 2002) and Kenneth (2006), and nephew Donavon (2003).
Beloved sister to Hillma, U.K. (Willy), Silbert, Canada (Princess), Daphne, Canada (Noel), Beverly, U.S. (Derek & Glendon, Jamaica), Danett, Canada (Mark).
A graduate of George Brown City College, Florence was a health care aid. She worked at S.R.T Medstaff, Fairview Nursing Home, Metro Toronto, Extendicare, and Leisure World where she worked for almost 30 years and retired in 2014. She was a tough, but fair mentor to the many PSWs she orientated over the years. She really loved her job but was happy to retire.
Florence was an aunt to 19 nieces and 8 nephews, and grand aunty to several grand nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Shepherd Ave. E in Agincourt at Midland Avenue. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022, at 10:00 am with Visitation at 9:00 am.
