Wilfred Horatio King Sr, (affectionately known as Dear, King, Chappy, Dad, Daddy, Uncle King, Uncle Chappy, Brother King, Pops, Papa and Mr. King) was a visual representation of joy. On December 11, 2022, Wilfred, suddenly and quietly, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. King spent forty-eight unforgettable years married to the absolute love of his life, Brenda and together they showed each other the world. The couple travelled to many lovely places and throughout a lifetime together, they created countless beautiful memories. Their relationship continues to be a living testament of commitment and happiness. Mr. King was also known to spend time with his other wives, his trucks. As an astute small business owner, he spent many many hours driving dump trucks and transport trucks and of course, he serviced these vehicles himself, in order to provide for his family. He hung up the keys to those trucks years ago to open Crown Renovation and eventually, to enjoy retirement with his family. Dad was an amazing father to Omiel, Rockell (and Kevin), Wilfred (and Kerry) and Nickesha. He demonstrated for them, both the duty and the joy that comes from being a very present parent. Both Daddy and Mommy also generously passed on to their children the love of travel.
Papa was more than a loving grand-father. He was dedicated to and took great pride in his eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Kaylah, Nyomi, Tyson, Zadara, Quinton, Iyla and Kerissa. He took time and patience with each one of them and they just adored their Papa. From his wife, to his children, to his grandchildren, his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and in laws, family was the love of his life. Uncle King/ Uncle Chappy, was an amazing role model for all of his many nieces and nephews. He was also the “second husband” to many sisters in church, sister-in-laws, and several of Brenda’s closest friends.
Brother King was a faithful member of the Agincourt Church of God. As one of the founding members, throughout the 48 years and various locations, he wore many distinctive hats in the church. He acted as the youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, bus driver, head musician/ guitar player. men's fellowship leader, usher, deacon and renovations/maintenance manager to name a few. Everyone called on Brother King for every sort of repair or renovation job that needed to be completed and he always made the time to help. He did it all. Bro King is today in heaven, dancing with the angels, singing hallelujah and playing his guitar, his harmonica and saxophone. (hopefully playing that saxophone better now, than how he played it here on earth). Brother King was the walking picture of faith and a true example of a praying man of God. All that he did in this life, he did to the honour and glory of God. Hearts are saddened at the loss of this loving leader, but there is also comfort in knowing that Brother King is safe in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
“That’s who he was, a man who loved his wife, loved his family, loved his God, loved his church and his people. Daddy is in a good place, He is in the best place ever. The one that he worked to build. Eternal life. That’s what we all need.”
He will be missed… until we meet him again someday in glory.
