Obituary

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Verona May Wilson, nee Hines, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, to all whose lives she touched, on December 4, 2022.

She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Scarborough, Ontario.  She was 82.

Verona was born in Fletchers Land, Kingston, Jamaica, to parents – Percy and Evelyn Hines.  She received her early education from Kingston Senior School.

Verona migrated to Canada in 1974.  She soon found employment with Chelsea Inn. She studied and passed the Personal Support Worker  Course and then worked, full time, for the Scarborough General Hospital for many years until she retired in 2011.

She loved children and taught Sunday School.  It was her love of children that led her to accept a part time job as a Lunch Room Supervisor for the Toronto District School Board where she worked for seven years until 2019.

Verona loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The Lakeside Church Ministries.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Andrew, sons – Andrew and Devon, daughter – Georgina, many grandchildren. Predeceased by her sons, Robert and Michael - all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, and Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
