Kathy - Cheryl and I are very sorry for your loss. Even though I had not worked with Dennis for more than 25 years, I still remember coming to work every day energized by the thought of working with the most incredible programmer I have had the privilege to work with in my lifetime.

Dear Kathy and family. Dennis’s Dad and Grandfather built their home at 10 Wexford Blvd at the same time as my Dad Roy Hunt and other world war 2 veterans did. Dennis was 4 years older than me . We moved into our house when I was 3 years old so it seems to me that I remember the Smith family as long as I can remember.
Dennis and his parents are some of the original Wexford residents who helped to make our neighborhood as welcoming and great as it is today. Dennis always greeted me with warmth and a big smile.
When our kids were young we were welcomed to join the Smith family when they set off a great fireworks display that was so much fun.
Dennis treasured you Kathy and your kids and your grandkids. You could always hear the pride in his voice when he spoke about his family.
Dennis was a great story teller. I remember him telling about how he built a wooden raft as a kid and he used it in quite deep water to move through the water that flooded the Hydro fields during the spring thaws. Kids, back then, sometimes did things without their parents knowledge and thankfully survived to tell the story.
Dennis especially loved preparing a summer BBQ in their beautiful back yard. Dennis and Kathy prepared delicious and even family secret recipes that were so yummy and throroughly enjoyed by all.
Dennis introduced our family to the idea of putting pineapple as a topping on pizza. One time when we had the Smith family over for a pizza dinner. We asked Dennis what topping he liked on his Pizza and were surprised to learn that one of his top choices was pineapple. We have enjoyed it on pizza ever since and I often think of Dennis when I bite into a yummy pizza with pineapple on top.
Dennis had a life long commitment and involvement to St Andrews Anglican church. He loved his church and always had great interest and caring input and willing help for anything that was happening at St Andrews.
Dennis was so clever and up to date with anything to do with computers. He seemed to always have enthusiasm and interest in anything to do with computers during his work all his entire life.
Dennis as long as I can remember, at least as an adult, always loved his dogs. Even as his health deteriorated he found ways to ensure that he could take them for their walk.
I remember the last time I spoke to Dennis on the phone. It was a number of weeks ago. He answered the phone with his warm. Happy and hearty greeting before I said a word. He said “ Hi Dianne how are you doing?” in his upbeat and strong tone of voice just as he always had. Dennis will be truly missed by our entire family and the many Wexford neighbours who knew him over so many decades. We send our Love and condolences to the entire Smith Family

We will always remember Dennis for his warm presence and big laugh - for his kindness and his jokes. He brightened up every family party, and he will be deeply missed by all of us.

Dear Kathy and family,
I was saddened to hear of Dennis's death. I remember well his dedication to family and to St Andrew's. His history within the parish is remarkable. At this time of year, I recall his efforts to get the metal angels up on the roof and outside displays. He loved the cottage and I enjoyed seeing his photos of this special place. And to have the service on St Andrew's Day - how appropriate! I am now living in Prince Edward Island so cannot be with you in person but will remember you all in prayer.

Dear Kathy & Family,
My thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. I have known Dennis since his days at Cherniak and have reconnected with Dennis a few years ago. His dedication and support have been invaluable to us at Benjamin’s and he will be deeply missed.

My brother-in-law, Dennis Smith. He loved his wife Kathy so much, he loved his children Kimberly, Greg and Tristan and all his grand-children, he loved his church, he loved his property near New Liskeard, he loved a fine bottle of red wine and a very rare steak. Rest in peace Dennis. Love to my family, I wish I was there with all of you.
