Obituary of Mrs. Ruth Devanathan

Ruth Merhala Devanathan peacefully passed away at age 61 on Sunday, November 13, 2022. She bravely persevered in a battle with cancer for about 2 years. She is survived by her husband Devanathan Julius Clifford and her children Mark, Michael, and Joanne Devanathan. Her grandchildren are Malachi, Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Caleb, Isaac, and Eden Devanathan. Her late parents are Lazarus and Lilly Muttiah. Ruth was born on April 25, 1961 in Jaffna Sri Lanka where she also grew up.

She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and her faith was her strongest foundation in life. She took on all life’s challenges time and time again with praying, fasting and reading the Word of God as her strongest weapons. She garnered a large spiritual family at Malvern Christian Assembly where she dedicated much of her time. She loved greeting congregational members, hosting prayer meetings and listening to others in their time of need.

Ruth loved community and spending time with her family. She loved cooking dinner for her grandchildren and reading the Bible with them. She made sure to lovingly instill within her children the Godly values that were instilled within herself. She was patient in affliction, loved without condition and never gave up hope.
