MANN, Howard Asahel Wescott

Howard Mann passed peacefully with family lovingly by his side on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at age 85 years. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 63 years, daughters Corinne and Lisa, son-in-law Link, granddaughters Vanessa and Andrea, great-grandchildren Cole and Julie, and dear sisters-in-law Joyce and Mary Jean. Born in Timmins Ontario, to Howard Sr. and Dolly, Howard grew up in Scarborough with older sister Lois and younger brother Dennis, where he later raised a family of his own.

Howard was an exceptional husband, father, Papa, uncle, cousin, friend, neighbour, colleague, mentor who filled our lives with limitless creativity, art, imagination, whimsy, humour, unconditional love, and endless support.  His willingness to always lend a helping hand inspired his nickname “Howie 911”.

Howard was a talented and gifted artist who began his graphic design career at storied Toronto commercial art firm Rous & Mann (where members of the Group of Seven worked).  Then as Creative Director and Partner, he helped Yorkville Press grow into the largest privately owned printing company in Canada, winning awards and accolades and took great pride in helping many young artists build careers along the way.

Howard, Dad, Papa, Sonny you are so very deeply missed.  We will carry you in our hearts, and in every breath and step we take.
You will forever be our hero.

Thank you to all who helped us care for this extraordinary man and his family. You were the lights that carried him, and all of us,
through the end of his journey.

As Howard was fond of saying, “Art is not what life is, but what it could be.”

We hope you will join the family in a Celebration of the amazing Life he created.

This event will be announced at a later date - as will an upcoming neighbourhood vigil walk.
