Please share a memory of Mrs. Pearl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Pearl Anita MacLean

Toronto/North Sydney

On Monday September 26 we lost a fine person.  Pearl Anita MacLean passed away peacefully in her sleep.  Pearl will be fondly remembered by oh so many.  A Cape Bretoner through and through, Pearl had a love for music, a knack for organizing, an ample share of determination, and the ability to turn any occasion into a party.   Pearl was known for the many roles she played - devoted wife, caring mom, committed sister, supportive aunt, amazing grandma, steadfast friend, and church volunteer extraordinaire.

Pearl did so much for so many because that’s the way her parents, Millie and Will Stagg taught her.   Be kind, think the best of people, help those in need, share what you have with others and never give up.

We will miss her greatly, but we trust she has been reunited with her dearest Bill who was probably waiting in the car for her and sister Joyce who was warming up the piano in preparation for a good old Stagg sing-along.

Pearl was laid to rest next to Bill on October 22 at MacDonald Cemetery, Ross Ferry, Cape Breton, down the road from her beloved cottage.

She is survived by her sons Don (Wendy) and Lloyd (Janice, predeceased) and her grandchildren Natalie, Victoria, Nathan and Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William (Bill/Billy) MacLean. Pearl is the last of Millie and Will Stagg’s fine family to pass. She was preceded by her siblings Garn (Lil), Ethel (George), Jack (Willena), Merv (Eileen), and Joyce (Jim).

The family is grateful for Pearl’s dedicated caregivers who assisted with her care over the last few months, with a special thank you to her neighbours, Marg and Gord and Sharon and Paul, who always kept a close watch on her and to our wonderful Susan who has been such an integral part of our family for decades.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 pm at Knox United Church, 2569 Midland Ave., Scarborough with Rev. Bright Yun officiating.  A reception will follow immediately after the service in the CE Centre.

In lieu of flowers kindly make a donation to Knox United Church or a charity of your choice.  Online condolences can be left for the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.ogdenfuneralhome.com

“Thank you Pearl.  You made our world a better place.”
