Dad,
Throughout my life, my Dad has been there for me in countless ways.
He was a mentor, teacher, sounding board, friend, & loan officer. He was always there to support me, celebrate my successes, understand my problems & accept my decisions; good or bad, & was always there to pick up the pieces when things didn’t go as I had planned or hoped.
Dad was a big part of my kids lives from an early age. He would walk them to & from school, make their lunches, read to them, help them with their homework & projects, teach them to ride a bike & throw a ball (baseball, football).
He was a father figure & role model & instilled in them, many great qualities which I am forever grateful. Jacob & Christopher were very lucky to have both their Nana & Papa in their lives for over 20 years.
Dad was a man of integrity; one I looked up to & whom I could always rely on no matter what. He was hard working, honest & extremely punctual. He taught me that “my word was my bond” & I try to live by those words everyday. He thought of himself as a handyman & would say that anything could be fixed with a little WD40 & some elbow grease.
Dad had a great sense of humour & we would always have a good laugh at a joke or a funny greeting/birthday card. He would always try to find the funniest ones for his brother Clyde.
When I was young, we spent many summers up at the cottage and he would always say “yes” when asked to take us to the beach, play badminton, cribbage, rummoli, gin rummy, or any other game, even if he really didn’t feel like it. He taught me how to read (age 4-5yrs) by making a game out of it & using flashcards. He made learning fun which is always a good quality for a teacher & Principal. He also taught me how to ride a bicycle & how to drive a car & I am grateful for everything.
As I look back over time, I find myself wondering….Did I remember to thank him & mom enough for all that they have done for me? For the sacrifices they must have made to give me such a good life? And for the simple things like laughter, smiles, hugs & times we shared?
If I have forgotten to show my gratitude enough, I’m thanking them now & I’m hoping they knew all along.
I love you and miss you Dad. Till we meet again xoxoxo
Every time I think of you
My heart just fills with pride
And though I’ll always miss you, Dad,
I know you’re by my side.
In laughter & in sorrow,
In sunshine & in rain,
I know you’re watching over me
Until we meet again.

To all the Carson family i wish to express my deepest sympathy on the passing of your father. I grew up knowing Mr. Carson from an early age and was always welcomed to the home on Lynnbrook or at the Cottage on Georgian Bay no matter what Janice and I were up to. I am so sorry for your loss
