Obituary of Mr. Lazaros Kotsopoulos
IN LOVING MEMORY OF LAZAROS KOTSOPOULOS
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving father, Grandfather and Papou Lazaros Kotsopoulos on October 9th 2022.
Beloved husband of the late Elpis Kotsopoulos, loving father of Bill (Sylvia), Anastasia (Danny), George (Sheila), the late Nickolas (Tammy), Athena (John), Mary (Tom).
He was born September 8th , 1929 in the village of Vevi, Greece , the youngest to 3 brothers and 2 sisters. His youth underwent turbulent times as WWII raged all about the village as it was a major roadway through the mountains to the rest of Greece.
His greatest regret was that he never completed his education due to the war, unavailability of teachers.
Life was difficult for people in the village since the main source of employment was farming or coal mining. In order to provide better opportunities for his family, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1965 leaving behind his wife Elpis and 5 children. In 1966 the rest of the family also immigrated to Toronto, Canada.
Throughout his life he worked tirelessly to provide for the family and instilled a strong work ethic to his children. Being a very social person, his biggest joy was sharing stories and tales with all his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
