Obituary of Prof. Vannithamby Buvanendran
Prof. Vannithamby Buvanendran, aged 88, husband of late wife Kamalawathy Buvanendran, passed away at his home in Toronto on October 8th, 2022. Son of Kandalama Vannithamby of Kurumbaciddy was born on July 26, 1934. He attended the Union College Tellippalai and Jaffna Central College where he graduated with distinction in Veterinary Science in 1958. He earned his PhD and became a professor at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the head of the Animal Breeding Division in Peradeniya in 1970. His impressive tenure includes working as a professor at the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, University of Zimbabwe and as a consultant in the late 80s at the Food and Agricultural Organization in Italy and United Kingdom. Prof. Buvanendran moved to Toronto in the early 90s where he enjoyed his retirement life surrounded by his dear family and loving friends.
Prof. Buvanendran married late Kamalawathy, daughter of JP Eliathamby of Kurumbaciddy and is survived by his sons Selvakumar (Nanthini) and Asokumar(Gowthamy) both in the USA and grandchildren Darshika Buvanendran of Vancouver, Dhanya Asokumar and Arjun Asokumar of Chicago.
Prof Buvanendran lived a simple and exemplary life. He was one of a kind touching every element of the human spirit.
The viewing will occur at Ogden Funeral home on Saturday October 15, 2022 from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm. His cremation will be on Sunday October 16, 2022 at Highland Hills Crematorium, 12492 Woodbine Ave., Gormley from 9.30 am to 11.00 am
