You truly have been a wonderful loving Father.
My heart aches and I already miss you..
We never imagined losing you so unexpectedly.
Especially when we had just spoken of your fear of falling the week prior.
We had so much optimism in a recovery as you appeared to be improving. As shocked & unprepared as we were, I take comfort knowing your suffering was short lived.
I grew up aspiring to be just like you.
You were unstoppable. Even at 94, you were actively
going up & down the basement stairs 8 to 10 a day.
Still able to look after yourself, cooking all your own meals, working on the computer & following the daily ups & downs of the daily stock matkets. You taught wilful stubborn young boys how to grow into men of character.
I can't remember a single time you ever spoke of dying.
Dad, you will always be my Hero.
Your greatest accomplishment is evident with the
enduring longevity of your 67 year marriage to Mom.
You have been a loving loyal partner & husband who worked tirelessly to ensure a secure future for Mom & your children.
Your Competitive nature & wilful spirit, always taught me to push harder and expect more of myself.
Not to be complacent & settle by taking the easy way out.
To achieve & stay relevant you have to work for it.
You embodied all of those principles.
I never ever saw you quit anything.
As our Father you gave us the gifts of Modesty, Humility & most of all Fairness. You are admired respected & trusted by everyone in our family circle.
And that is saying something.
I wiil forever cherish your letter of several years ago when you wrote me a card & told me how proud you
were of me.
Your expression of love several weeks ago also meant the world to to me. Even though we are a family that rarely verbalizes our feelings through words, our depth of caring & love for one & other has never been in question.
You have always been there for myself,.Mom & our family. I can't count how many times you would just show up with tool box in hand just start helping.
This is true unconditional love.
I'm greatful for the many life lessons you exposed us too.
I just wanted to Thank You Dad.
I appreciated & felt honored that you trusted me to assist you with your needs.
You were never a burden.
I felt it was a privilege as your loving son to make sure
You were safe & looked after.
My Fondest Memories:
*Our Father & 3 Sons gathered around the TV watching
Bonanza (Ponderosa)
It wasn't unnoticed that show was emulating a father & his 3 boys.
*All my childhood friends telling me I had the greatest Dad because he would fix all there bikes when we lived on Westview.
*Dad casting his fishing line & hooking the back of my head on French River. Dad promptly took his pliers & removed the hook from my head & then disinfected me
Using "OFF" mosquito repellant.
*Dad & me building our 1st Colour TV by Heathkit.
Working side by side while trying to figure out how to assemble 500 electronic components. Not only did we have one of the 1st colour Tv's on the street, we built it ourselves.
*Teaching us how to shoot rifles at our farm & the importance & responsibility we need to have for human life.
*Dad letting me drive the Big tractor at the age of eight.
*My father teaching us about nature, the land & growing vegetables & apple trees
*Learning photography & how to develop our own film & photos
*Fishing with Dad at the cottage.
*Dad teaching us how to rock hunt in Bancroft.
*Dad teaching me how to fix cars.
*Building the barn at the farm.
*Going to Disney World shortly after Dad's cancer treatnents.
*Renovating & Building ( You always loved working with your hands)
Ron & I both got a part of you.
I got the skills to build & renovate & Ron got the
Technical computer skills.
I'm not sure how to live life in a world
without you in it, but I promise you will be thought of with Love & Admiration everyday.
I love with all my heart.

My father, I miss you and will keep you in my heart and memory forever.
You were our rock, our strength, dedicated your life to our family.
Love is not a word we said, but you always showed how much you loved your family, right up to the end.
On Sunday, October 2, you were asking for me.
On Tuesday, October 4, I saw you for the last time.
Every time I saw you in the hospital, you looked better than the last time I saw you.
I held your hand, felt you squeeze it tight, and put your hand on my face.
I didn't know it would be the last time. I truly believed you would make it through this.
But you knew. You knew you were dying. I feel so blessed to be able to see you that one last time.
To see you nod your head to show you understood what Lan had said.
To have your eyes follow us around the room.
Love - I could feel how much you loved us, your family.
You held on so you could see me one last time... and for that I feel blessed and so much loved.
Your last words to me was "over, over" - and at the time I didn't know if I heard you correctly.
But then the next morning you had passed.
That's how I know that I heard you correctly and you knew and accepted you were dying and you passed peacefully.
But you held on so you could see me and hold me one last time - and I will treasure that moment for all my life.
You lived a long and full life.
We were never a family of many words, hard to express emotions.
Love, unspoken and a very deep connection and feeling.
Thank you, and I will live my life with what you have taught me.
I will carry on the tradition of growing tomatoes and to be a responsible father.
And to be kind and to see the good in people. To keep a positive outlook on life.
Even when you had health problems, you were never one to complain.
With life, the most important thing is to have a strong foundation and you were my rock.
The biggest lessons you have taught me is to be responsible and live life with integrity.
And I realize it was a very heavy burden you carried, to raise a family and keep us safe.
I miss you and will never forget you.
And the father shines through the child's eyes.
You did an amazing job and now you can rest. An amazing job to give love and to be loved.
And you can now rest and join those in heaven who have gone before you, Gary, your parents, and mom's parents, and aunts and uncles. Family is always family.
And you will always live on inside me.
